About the Artists:

Tim Fox graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Music Education. He has played trumpet and/or piano in the Chicago area, around Colorado’s Western Slope, and on the road, with the likes of “The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra,” under the direction of Buddy Morrow, “The Temptations” and “The Four Tops,” Eric Alexander, Ed Soph, Ernie Watts, Red Skelton, Barbara Eden, Connie Francis, Mitzi Gaynor, and with many more.

Tim facilitated, with the generous support of Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS,) the Roaring Fork Jazz Workshop, and worked closely with the JAS’s education initiatives. He is currently a freelance musician, living near Southern Door County, Wisconsin, but still collaborates with musicians from Denver to Grand Junction, and considers himself a member of the Josefina Mendez Jazz trio and Elements Jazz.

Based in Central Wisconsin, Jessie Crandall is a bassist and composer who has performed with artists such as Linda May Han Oh, Benny Benack III, Carl Allen, Ted Nash, Ben Allison, Mike Kocour, Dane Richeson, and John Daniel.

Raised in De Pere, Wisconsin, she was a finalist at the International Society of Bassists Competition (Jazz Division) and a recipient of the Melvin R. Laird Exceptional Artist Award in 2023.

Jessie graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in winter 2023 with a bachelor’s in jazz studies. During her time at UWSP, she was the Jazz Society President and Jazz Area Assistant Manager. She maintained a place in the top Jazz Ensemble throughout her three-and-a-half years there and pursued continued studies in classical bass, classical piano, and jazz piano.

Her original compositions are written for small ensembles and played in the Mathew Chapman Quintet, Colt Maichle Quintet, Jessie Crandall Quintet/Trio as well as any other small groups she plays with as a sideman.

Colt Maichle is a highly sought-after drummer and percussionist based in the Green Bay and Fox Valley region of Wisconsin. A versatile musician, Colt specializes in classical and jazz styles but brings his dynamic energy and creativity to a wide range of genres. He is a core member of the Point of Jazz Quintet, the high-energy Brewster Street Brass Band, and the indie surf-punk group Collective Ex. Colt also serves as the host of a popular weekly jazz jam session at Stone Arch Brewpub in Appleton, where musicians and enthusiasts gather every Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM to celebrate live jazz.

Colt Received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree and a minor in Jazz Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, where he learned from current professors Mathew Buchman, Dr. John Lynch, Dr. Brian Bauldauff, Dr. Patrick Lawrence, and past professor Dr. Rachel Brashier who is now the Head of Music Education at the Peabody Institute of Music.

With a robust performance history, Colt has showcased his talent across Wisconsin, including memorable appearances at prestigious venues and events such as the Riverfront Jazz Fest, the Sentry Theatre, and Milwaukee’s renowned Summerfest. As a skilled classical percussionist, he frequently substitutes with the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and collaborates with various musical groups in the region.

Colt Maichle is the band teacher at Green Bay East High School and a private percussion instructor through his independent studio and the Appleton Music Academy. In the past he has coached the Amherst High School drumline and worked as a behavioral technician at Caravel Autism Health.
