About Andrea Wittgens:

NYC-based alt-pop artist Andrea Wittgens is known for her dynamic performances and imaginative storytelling. Her gift for weaving darkly poetic lyrics into infectious pop songs draws comparisons to Kate Bush and St. Vincent.

A master keyboardist and hypnotic vocalist, her raw lyrical depth and cinematic sound have captivated audiences throughout her extensive touring across Canada and the US. Her songs have appeared on The CW, Paramount+ and Disney+ (Charmed, Melrose Place, 90210, Life Unexpected, Acapulco Shore). She most recently scored two award winning short films (Last Hope, Little Mouse). As a devoted collaborative songwriter, she is also a longtime member of both the Goffin & King Foundation and Wisconsin’s Steel Bridge Songfest communities.

Over two decades, Andrea has cultivated a singular aesthetic, drawing from new wave, jazz, early punk and classical. Her diverse musical story begins in the small town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Raised on her father’s jazz records and 80s synth pop, her first formal training was rigorous classical piano lessons. She pursued classical studies into university, but found herself much more drawn to contemporary songwriting. So after graduation, she headed west and cut her teeth in the dive bars of post-grunge Seattle before ultimately relocating to New York City, where she lives today.

She’s released six collections of original music since 2006. Her recent full-length album, “Big Dreams Little Earthlings” (2025), showcases Andrea at her most honest and vulnerable. Lavished in moody synths and soaring hooks, the 10-song collection was recorded in Joshua Tree, CA, with producer Ainjel Emme (Kim Gordon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and drummer/producer Anthony Lopez (The Voidz, Charli XCX). The critically acclaimed album is already a fan favorite—a love letter to the pomp and passion of the ’80s synth pop of her youth, written by a woman who survived the decades that followed.
