Josh Gregory
Piano, Beginner/Intermediate Music Theory
Whether you are looking to master your favorite pop hits or dive into the world of improvisation, Josh Gregory brings over a decade of teaching experience and a lifetime of performance to MUSE in Sturgeon Bay.
Professional Background
A staple of the Door County music scene, Josh is well-known for his versatile piano style, spanning rock, pop, blues, and classic country. He has performed with a wide array of acts, including Todd Carey, Little Marsh Overflow, Frank Maloney, The Nicks, and The Johnson Project. Local residents likely recognize him from his annual performance at the Sturgeon Bay Christmas Tree Lighting, a popular tradition he has headlined for the past 11 years.
Education & Philosophy
Josh’s musical foundation is built on years of diverse private study and formal training in music theory and songwriting at Chicago’s renowned Old Town School of Folk Music. This varied background allows him to tailor his lessons to the unique interests of each student. His teaching focus includes:
- Beginner to Intermediate Theory: Building a solid foundation for long-term success.
- Reading Chord Charts: Empowering students to play the songs they love quickly.
- Improvisation: Encouraging creative expression and musical “flow.”
Personal Life
When he isn’t teaching or performing, Josh stays busy at home in Sturgeon Bay with his family. He loves making music with his wife, Gwen—a local flautist and Pre-K teacher—and spending quality time with their two boys, ages 10 and 13. As a father and an educator, Josh is passionate about helping students of all ages find their own voice on the keys.
